Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I have always enjoyed working out and being active. When I moved to Canada in 2012 I was introduced to CrossFit by my husband. I fell in love with CrossFit right away, not only the way of working out but also being a part of a community.

Why did you become a trainer?
I find it very rewarding to motivate people to be the best they can be and exploring how they can better themselves. Throughout my CrossFit journey I’ve had amazing coaches and they have inspired me to become one.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I played high level hockey my entire life and have always been in and out of the gym. After hockey ended and years of not doing much, I started running. But let’s be honest, running when you’re even a little bit overweight is not much fun. I was offered a free week at a local CrossFit gym and have been doing it ever since. My running ability improved and I started playing hockey more often and well let’s just say I’m in better shape now than ever and I continue to improve as I get older.

Why did you become a trainer?
After a year or two of CrossFit I knew I wouldn’t be going anywhere and would train this way for life. At this point I decided I wanted to coach. I wanted to help people achieve their goals and make positive changes. I love seeing people hit personal records after giving them some advice or coaching. It doesn’t matter if it’s their first handstand, first double under or seeing them achieve their first muscle up. They are all just as important to me and the client. CrossFit is all about building confidence and achieving goals.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’m fortune to have been involved in competitive sports my whole life – mostly netball and swimming. I started with Olympic Lifting and CrossFit in 2011 and did my first Olympic lifting competition in 2013. I took a couple of years off of serious training until joining CrossFit again in February 2015.

Why did you become a trainer?
Maybe everyone who becomes a coach says they do it because they love teaching and seeing people achieve their goals – but I really do! Nothing makes me more excited and happy than seeing that little happy dance or small smile people give when they do something that they didn’t think they could or have literally been working their butt off to achieve. Also having a chance to share my passion of Olympic lifting is truly an honor and a privilege.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Double Unders

What is your favorite cheat food?
Pizza

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Xena Warrior Princess – not really a superhero but one badass cool chic. She was tough on the outside and was a fierce fighter but a serious softie on the inside. I loved watching her as a teenager – I might have even had her poster on my wall for a while!

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’ve always been involved in sports, but only got into weight training when I was in university. After a couple of years of bodybuilding style fitness, I was bored out of my mind and looking for something new to try. I noticed a couple of guys at my university gym doing a CrossFit workout and decided to ask some questions. Later that week I did my first WOD, and was hooked. I have since fallen in love with fitness, and in particular CrossFit, and my workouts are now my primary means of centering myself, and calming my mind after a hectic day/week.

Why did you become a trainer?
I’m very passionate about CrossFit, and feel it’s the best possible fitness system for giving people the results they want. I get to share in my clients’ transformations and triumphs as they train, and I’m inspired by it, every time. Your gains are my gains, bra.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Post WOD bicep flexing

What is your favorite cheat food?
High Fructose Corn Syrup, in all of it’s delicious permutations

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Superman. He lives his life governed by an unshakable set of values and moral doctrines. He makes the choice, every moment of his day, to use his power for good, despite the ability to do otherwise. I respect his choice to be a beacon of good, and of hope, and to never waver from that path, when most others would be total dickheads.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I was doing regular training at my local gym and one day I saw a guy in the gym who was doing a really weird workout. I asked him what it was and he said CrossFit. The next time he and his girlfriend were in the gym I asked if I could do their workout with them. He and his tiny girlfriend proceeded to kick my butt in a workout, I could barely walk afterwards. I’d never been so embarrassed. I realized then I wasn’t near as “fit” as I thought. I would have considered myself an 8 out of 10 and after that day I realized the scale goes to 15!

Why did you become a trainer?
I quickly started falling in love with CrossFit and watched many videos to improve my technique. I then found that I had a good eye for movement and started helping those out around me. My coach at the time saw this and asked if I was interested in helping them coach. I never looked back.

Thrusters, Muscle-ups, Snatch

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’ve always been super active, as a kid I played soccer, football, basketball and even badminton. Now I stick to CrossFit, basketball and am making my way back into kickboxing training. I’ve always said I thought I was in decent shape, but never strong and thats where CrossFit came in. With my fitness and health having increased over the last couple of years, its a lifestyle that I’ve become passionate about. Health is wealth.

Why did you become a trainer?
I love group fitness and seeing people progress. Becoming a trainer has given me the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with others and help them make positive changes. The CrossFit community makes it fun and easy too.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’ve played high level football & rugby throughout high school and university. When I started working out in high school I was lucky enough to have a coach who was an avid power lifter / Olympic lifter. He made sure we stuck to the big power lifts (deadlifts, squats, bench) as well as power cleans and power snatches. It was there one day when that same coach challenged me to a “30 rep clean and jerk race.” After losing, I had to find out his secret…he took me to his CrossFit Box and I haven’t looked back since.

Why did you become a trainer?
After university I got into coaching football. I stuck to the same principles as my former coach taught me. I was running my team through CrossFit esque workouts in a small gym space. I knew we needed more equipment and a bigger room. At the same time one of my closest friends had been running a box out of his garage. By 2012 I got my level 1 and we decided to partner together and open up our own box for my team and his members. It’s still building young power athletes to this day!

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Max Back Squats and Clean and Jerks

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
Growing up, I always loved the competition, camaraderie, and drive of team sports. The best part for me was the family bond built during the training process and practices, since we were all working our asses off toward a common goal. This same spirit I found in group fitness, namely the community built around CrossFit. Plus, I’m not a small guy, so CrossFit is something that really stuck for me in hitting some critical fitness goals while really surprising myself with some really momentous PRs.

Why did you become a trainer?
Ive always wanted to be a teacher. Being able to inspire, motivate and if possible, teach made becoming a trainer a no-brainer.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
My favourite movement is the snatch. It’s the most efficient way to move a bar to overhead, and it’s a movement that you can perennially find something to work on.

What is your favorite cheat food?
Any type of pig fat.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
I think I’m Batman.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
Always into Athletics and always enjoyed training. Hit a major plateau in the Gym and was looking for something new to help me get stronger and more Athletic, rather than just building gym muscle for the sake of building gym muscle. A good buddy of mine got me into it and I never looked back.

Why did you become a trainer?
Initially, it was to start a CrossFit program in my hometown, but as I coached more, and as I evolved as an Athlete and a Coach, I truly started to enjoy it and started to recognize the unlimited benefits to this type of training….for every kind of athlete and lifestyle.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Snatches…or any type of barbell cycling.

What is your favorite cheat food?
Pizza, because isn’t it everyone’s?

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Probably The Punisher or Batman because they’ve got no superhero powers, but kick @$$ because of training and discipline (kinda like Crossfit athletes). Honorable mentions to Wolverine because he’s Canadian and just all-round awesome, and The Hulk because he’s stronger than everyone.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’ve been fairly active for most of my life. I practiced martial arts for a long time but for the most part I tended to focus more on endurance sports such as soccer, running, and road cycling. Strength training was something that I always did on the side to maintain some semblance of muscle. I started CrossFit after a friend told me to checkout CrossFit’s main website. After trying out one of WODs on my own and being stunned by the volume of work and the considerable length of time it took me to complete it, I was hooked.

Why did you become a trainer?
Couple of reasons. The first comes from my martial arts background where the practitioner’s own learning process involves being able to impart knowledge onto others. Coaching pushes me to understand technique, form and execution; then pay it forward onto others. Second, I just love interacting and helping others; seeing athlete members improve. I get equally as excited as an athlete who just hit a new PR or got his/her first unassisted pull up.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Cleans

What is your favorite cheat food?
Fried chicken. Not the Asian fried chicken but the southern fried with seasoning and hot sauce. Soooo good!

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Cyclops from X-Men. He was the leader of the team and shot lasers out of his eyes. Who doesn’t love lasers???

What year did you start CrossFitting?
2015 is when I started training consistently.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’ve always been active and have valued physical fitness from a young age. It was a natural progression into the fitness field as I place a high importance on fitness in my life and hope to lead by example to those around me. I see it as a necessity especially in my job setting as a nurse on the trauma unit. There is an advantage to being fit when facing those unplanned circumstances, you have a fighting chance and you often recover much faster.

I got into CrossFit because of the community and support, and the results and progress it has had on my mindset, physique, and movement abilities were noticeable far quicker than anything I’ve tried before.

Why did you become a trainer?
To be able to help others enjoy fitness as much a I do.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Cleans and dare I say Burpees…

What is your favorite cheat food?
Any form of peanut butter with chocolate.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Jean Grey – Her mind is more powerful than her physique.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I was always a fit kid. Growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan gave me the opportunity to always be outside climbing trees, building forts, working in the field and walking 5 miles uphill to school both ways. I was into track and field from a very young age and went on to compete for the university track team in combined events. When I moved to Calgary I floated around doing a bunch of random different sports trying to find my niche. Then one day, my wife and I were watching tv and the CrossFit Games came on. She turned to me and said, “You should do that!” I didn’t immediately jump on the suggestion because I had hated everything about the ‘gym’ from my training days. But the idea was stuck in my brain. Eventually I got the courage to go to the ‘gym’. I did one WOD and signed up for a year on the spot. It reminded me so much of my training days and the comradery that was formed through blood, sweat and tears. The rest is history…

Why did you become a trainer?
I think it started out with my son. I wanted to set a good example for him to live throughout his life having an active, healthy lifestyle. I saw how excited he was about doing CrossFit just as a kid. I wanted to take the joy I saw in him and help other people better themselves and leave the gym with the same kind of smile on their face. AND I wanted control of the music…

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
I like to be a ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ but some of my favorites include anything on my hands, snatch, muscle ups and rx’d rest.

What is your favorite cheat food?
Salt and vinegar chips, dill pickle chips, ketchup chips, baked chips, fried chips, potato chips, rice chips, really any kind of chips, except barbecue chips, I don’t like those.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?
Thor…hair goals…

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I always played sports growing up, but tapered off in physical activity in university. I was introduced to CrossFit through work; and boy was that first WOD humbling. As CrossFit clichés go, it’s more fun when we suffer together. I enjoy the constantly varied workouts, the community atmosphere and the guilt-free conscience of eating. A lot.

Why did you become a trainer?
I find fulfillment in creating, seeing change and helping others. Becoming a CrossFit trainer is the perfect intersection of sharing my passion for CrossFit and inspiring change in others.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Double Unders.

What is your favorite cheat food?
Chicken Nuggets + Ice Cream. Preferably together.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
Growing up I was pretty active. I ran track, played soccer, then later focused on competitive cheerleading. After that I began working out at a globo style gym. I was getting pretty bored with that. Then one day I was watching TV and stumbled upon the CrossFit Games. I thought to myself that looks badass. So the following week I signed up for an intro and never looked back.
Why did you become a trainer?
I enjoy helping people reach their goals and watching/being a part of their journey is an added bonus. Seeing clients reactions to things like getting their first pullup, “Rxing” their first workout, or hitting PRs is extremely fulfilling.
What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Cleans and box jumps.
What is your favorite cheat food?
Sushi…its a weekly must. 5-6 rolls. Everyone is always in shock at how much I eat. I love pizza too, but I only treat myself to that 1-2 times per year.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I was always into fitness of some kind through high school, but serving in the military solidified it. When I moved to Calgary, I needed a place to work out and “do my own thing” and that when I was convinced to try CrossFit. I haven’t looked back since!

Why did you become a trainer?
After seeing how CrossFit could help me in my life by reaching new goals and always being challenged, I wanted to help others do the same. I originally started to coach for fun, but it soon became a profession and I spent the following 3 years coaching, managing and owning CrossFit gyms around the city.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?
I’ve pretty much always had a gym membership and would do the typical 3 sets of 10 reps workouts that most guys do. After getting bored of that, I started focusing more on power lifting which I really enjoyed BUT found that I would be out of breath after walking up a flight of stairs or even bending over to tie my shoes! My buddy mentioned that if I liked lifting but still wanted to try to “be in shape” to give CrossFit a try and I’ve been hooked ever since.

Why did you become a trainer?
To continue the pursuit of health living and share that positive experience with people. It’s inspiring and rewarding to see people transition to a healthier lifestyle, accomplish their goals, nail a challenging skill or hit a PR. It’s powerful stuff!

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?
Anything short and heavy! Not Burpees.
